Trinidad & Tobago

I'm told by a new friend that there was a coup attempt in her native Trinidad not too, too long ago and that there is periodic unrest and the threat of violence there. Looking at a map I never realized how close to Venezuela Trinidad is. Could Trinidad be the first domino in the socialist domino rally terminating in bulwark Cuba? Maybe the Caribbean is about to be revealed as more than just beach, baseball, and class discrepancy.

Pomona's Progress

WRKL, the one radio station local to Rockland County, NY, its signal beamed from the tower overlooking the once Grand Union now Super Stop and Shop (with a "Health Foods" section) has changed formats. It used to be a hodge-podge of community news and discussion and various musical formats. Now it is Polskie Radio. All Polish language radio. An hour of Polish hip-hop was awesome. (The last 20 minutes of the hour was improvised, in-studio a-cappela lyricizing.) The 3o minute information session on the possible new immigration laws and the spectre of mass deportations that was read in english then translated into Polish was useful and interesting.

In Pomona gossip, the word is that some famous rapper (my source is working on acquiring the name) is moving into the huge house on top of the hill.
